Lake Ontario Offshore Racing continues this weekend with Race #4 of the Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS). The “100 Miler” Long Distance race will start at PCYC the morning of Saturday, August 14th with First Warning at 09:55. This year’s race will have participants head east to round the Ajax Weather Buoy, return westward to round the Burlington Weather Tower, and finish at the PCYC Finish Mark. This year’s race has over 50 boats participating.
If you are not racing, volunteers are needed for the Onshore Finish. The Finish Line needs to be staffed from 1201 (midnight) to 1600 EDT, Sunday, August 15, 2021, in four (4) hour shifts. No experience necessary as on the job training is provided.
If you can help or know someone who can, please contact Graham Dougall, Racecommittee@loor.ca.
Also, Race #4 is the second of four planned LOSHRS races for 2021, and one of the four races that could qualify participants in this year's Sail Give-A-Way! The rules are similar to previous years, but with fewer races needed to qualify:
Must complete two of the four races in 2021
Draw will happen about 2000 at DYC on the Saturday
Owner or representative must be present unless still racing.
If sailboat has only completed one race, then an alternative will be drawn in case first drawn sailboat does not complete race 6.
The sail must be purchased in 2021.
Good luck to everyone!
