It is with great sadness that we are announcing that due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Pandemic, the LOOR Committee is cancelling the 2020 Lake Ontario 300/600 Challenge. This difficult issue was discussed at length with our race ambassadors and committee members taking into account the Federal and Provincial guidelines that would have to be followed had the event continued. The committee was in unanimous agreement when the vote was taken.
“It is with great disappointment that we announce the official cancellation of the 2020 Lake Ontario 300/600 Challenge ,” said Monica Doedens, Chair of the Lake Ontario Offshore Racing Committee, “The LOOR Committee is in full agreement with the direction provided by government and health officials regarding large-scale events and will continue to take all necessary actions to support the protection of our community in this difficult time. The LO300/600 will be back next year and we are working on some new ideas to make the events even more exciting.”
“Although we are disheartened that there will be no Lake Ontario 300 in 2020, the health and safety of our stakeholders is our first priority,” said Graham Dougall, Safety Committee Head, “While we are proud of our many years of tradition, such tradition will never be at the expense of our community’s health and safety; we will support all continued efforts against the spread of the Coronavirus.”
