Lake Ontario Offshore Racing Committee Proceeding with the 31st Lake Ontario 300/600 Challenge Race on Saturday, July 10th, 2021
We are excited to announce that we remain “Go” for the start of the 2021
Lake Ontario Racing Season on July 10 th and look forward to a great race.
The Lake Ontario 300/600 Challenge Race (LO300/LO600) is a 300NM
and 600 NM sailboat race on Lake Ontario. The race is open to single-handed,
double-handed, fully crewed keelboat and multihull sailboats.
With the Canada-USA Border remaining closed, the Main Duck and
Scotch-Bonnet Courses will be modified to keep racers completely in
Canadian waters. Unfortunately this also means that sailboats from the
USA will not be able to participate this year. We look forward to racing with
our neighbours next year.
We have reduced the number of YB trackers this year and due to this
limited number we will be capping the number of racers so if you plan to
race this year, please register quickly so you don't miss out.
Although PCYC will be welcoming boats, there is a very limited number of
slips that will be available before and after the race. We will be reaching
out to neighbouring clubs to help us facilitate slips for those who need one.
If you are an out-of-town crew, please contact us at info@loor.ca to let us
know you are coming. We can then plan for your arrival.
Updated Sailing Instructions and NORs are to be released soon. Please
check them to make sure you know about the modifications for this year.
Please remember that if you are new to offshore racing and have any
questions do not hesitate to reach out to us at info@loor.ca or contact your
LOOR Ambassador.
I must end with the caveat that things can change very quickly in these
difficult times so although we are doing our best to put on a great race, we
may still be forced to cancel. We do however promise to keep the lines of
communication open and let you know of any changes as soon as we can.
See you on the water!
