Results for LOSHRS Race 5 and 6

Results are posted on Yachtscoring.

September 19th and 20th saw the running of final two LOOR events for the shortened 2020 season, LOSHRS races 5 and 6. Due to the difficulties presented by the Covid-19 situation the races comprised two shore races from PCYC west to Oakville (Saturday) and east to Humber Bay (Sunday) rather than the usual cross-lake weekend to Port Dalhousie. Hopefully that will be back next year!

Saturday's forecast was not encouraging, what with 3 knot gusting to 3 knots mid-day. Fortunately, the weather gurus were wrong and there was a nice10-12 knot breeze fairly consistently throughout the day. The first leg was a downwind run to Oakville with a nice close reach back to PCYC. Sunday saw somewhat shifty wind with oscillations and lulls aplenty. It seemed the race was often upwind, but most opted to fly their spinnakers on a tight reach from Humber back to the Fogh mark.

Many of the racers radioed their thanks to the race committee for their efforts in running as many races as they were able this year. Thanks are also due to the racers who came out to make the events as fun as they were in what has been a very strange summer.

Thanks to all, and stay well!
